An Inside Guide into this Season's and this City's Hottest Trends
We’ve teamed up with award-winning journalist and fashion writer Annie Vasquez to give you the inside scoop on what to add to your fall shopping list and where the chicest Miami locals go for a drink.
What are you predicting for fall fashion trends?
Well, I went to New York Fashion Week in February and got to see the trends first-hand and I must say, I’m really ecstatic about what’s coming! When it comes to shoes, there will be lots of loafer love. “Car wash pleats” are going to be major – It’s sexy and a different look for those who love that fringe feel. High-waisted looks remain. I’ve already seen a lot more scarves being wrapped around the neck these days and that will be popular come fall.
Describe your sense of Miami fashion in one word?
What’s your best fashion tip?
Experiment – Life is too short not to.
If you HAD to choose… Bal Harbour Shops or Aventura Mall?
That’s a really tough choice because both are different. Bal Harbour is so romantic looking and serene. If I had to pick one, then I’d say Aventura Mall just because it’s huge and has more stores to shop.
What’s your favorite day-to-night look?
I’m really loving buttoned down shirt dresses now. I love their simplicity and versatility – you can wear them with cute Birkies or throw on some nice pumps.
How do you keep your make-up looking so fresh in Miami’s sizzling heat?
I was introduced to an amazing liquid foundation called Cover FX which is long lasting because it’s highly pigmented. I also love NYX Setting Spray in the Matte Finish. It really keeps everything in place.
What’s your favorite place to grab a drink on a Friday night in Miami?
I love to be outside under the stars and Broken Shaker’s hip vibe is so on point.
What’s your favorite road-trip getaway?
Key West is always so charming and full of character. I love its rich history. Plus, there are so many delicious restaurants to dine at.
What’s your favorite staycation destination in Miami?
That’s easy — Acqualina! I had the pleasure of getting my R&R there and some spa treatments, too. The room was luxurious and at the same time comfy.
What does a typical day look like for The Fashion Poet?
It starts really early at 5 a.m. with a workout and I’m in bed by 10 p.m.on weekdays. Every day is different though – some days I have a client photoshoot, other days I’m hosting an event or planning one of my own. Then, there’s days where I’m booked with back-to-back meetings, speaking engagements or prepping to style a shoot. I also scout locations whenever I can squeeze in time. I also spend a lot of time on the computer answering emails and doing social media for the most part!
What’s your favorite aspect of living in Miami?
My favorite aspect of living in Miami is our beautiful beaches.
