Anti-Aging Q&A with Kim Cooke

A lady never reveals her age – so why let your skin do it for you?

If you’re anything like us, you have felt tempted to corner the dermatologist you met at cocktail party to ask for her best skincare advice. So how did we get answers to our burning beauty questions? We’ve asked our resident expert, Spa Therapy Manager Kim Cooke, for her key factors to maintaining a young and healthy, radiant glow.

We’ve revealed her secrets below.

What would you consider to be the best anti-aging skincare product available on the market?

No bias, the best anti-aging product on the market is ESPA’s Life Stage Net 8 Serum, I love this product! It truly is an intelligent skin care product. It works as a time release over an 8 hour period. This exceptionally active, highly concentrated serum will target the most visible signs of aging.

What is the main difference between ESPA products vs. the surplus of skincare products out in today’s market?

To put it simply, in my opinion the main difference between ESPA products and so many others is that our products truly work, they will always deliver on their promise. ESPA products are also 98%-100% natural and we source only the highest quality aromatherapy, plant, and marine active ingredients.

Are there any specific ingredients we should look out for when purchasing anti-aging skincare products?

The 3 main ingredients to look for would be:

  • Himalayan Fleece vine Resveratrol, renowned to help prolong skin cell vitality and helps reduce lines and wrinkles
  • Carnosine, which safeguards firmness and elasticity
  • Liquorice root to help calm redness, minimize appearance of age spots and enhance radiance.

Are there any products you would consider absolutely essential?

I would recommend to always have a rich and hydrating cleanser, a very fine exfoliator, and a moisturizer or facial oil.

What advice would you give a girl in her 20s? 30s? 40s? 50s?

I wish I knew this when I was in my 20s and 30’s – Always remove your make up and wash your face every night. Apply your eye cream, face oil and moisturizers at night and really gob it on. Your skin repairs itself when you sleep. The cells renew during sleep and whatever you do never get sun on your face. Continue this habit throughout your 40s and 50s and whatever you do, never leave the house without a layer of sunscreen on!

5 things your skin simply cannot go without?

  • Good eye makeup remover (I actually use coconut oil)
  • Hydrating cleanser (I use Hydrating Cleansing Milk twice daily)
  • Skin Exfoliation (I love ESPA’s refining skin polish)
  • Spa Fresh Toner (Toners are great to bring PH balance to the skin and also helps reduce the pores)
  • Moisturizer or Face oil (I know people are not sure about face oils but they are so good for your skin)

Is there a specific spa treatment that can reverse the signs of aging?

The best treatment to help reverse the signs of aging is the 80 minute Life Stage facial. The products are geared for anti-aging, but we also incorporate the Caci Machine that basically is a non-surgical face lift. We use a micro current that reprograms the muscle memory. The micro current is good to lift and hold the muscle in place to tighten and tone.

Will a change in diet help me look younger?

Yes, absolutely. First of all, water is a must – the more water you drink the better your skin will look and feel. Also you should incorporate organic, raw, green leafy vegetables and fresh fruit. I happen to love blending the green smoothies, while excluding high sugar items like apple juice for example.

What is your favorite skincare product?

That’s a really hard one I love and use so many! If I have to choose just one, I would say ESPA Replenishing Face Treatment Oil. It’s made from Sandalwood and Patchouli, is deeply nourishing, helps soften the skin and helps with cell renewal – not to mention I love the smell!
